Elizabeth Elson, MSc, is a public health professional and leader of major donor-funded programmes in Indonesia and Timor-Leste. Her wide range of experience includes working in remote regional government health departments, as well as developing policy at national ministerial level.  As Team Leader of the MAMPU program in Indonesia (Empowering Indonesian Women for Poverty Reduction) on behalf of Australian Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade, she has introduced an Innovation Fund to identify exciting new approaches to overcoming marginalisation of poor women and girls in Indonesia.  Previously, whilst in Timor-Leste she conceived and executed an M-Health project (‘Liga Inan’) that connects pregnant women in remote communities to health services. In all her work, Elizabeth ensures her team actively engages with civil society partners and government to encourage collaboration. She also encourages her team to look at problems holistically by getting out into the field to learn about real lives and the actual conditions people face.
